Fear of Speaking

It's surprising the number of people who have a fear of speaking. We can all speak quite happily to friends and family but ask us to speak infront of a grooup and we freeze.

One of the main ways to overcome this is to realise that everyone else is the same!

If I had to give just one tip to people I would say slow down. Most people speak too quickly and then people can't understand you and will ask you to repeat it which in turn will make you panic.

My second tip would be too open your mouth so that the sound can get out of your mouth. For a more detailed explanation please look at this page.

When you say the 'eye' sound as in the words high, my, smile etc your mouth should be wide open. Look in a mirror and see if your mouth is wide open( and I mean WIDE) when you say:

'My smile is a mile wide'. Your mouth should be open on the words my, smile, mile and wide.

How to Overcome Speaking Anxiety Book

I have written a 58 page ebook that will help you overcome any fear of speaking in public. You can look at sample pages from the book HERE and click preveiw button.

Next you have to speak loud enough for people to hear you.

There's no point in having a fantastic speech or presentation full of great ideas if no one can hear you.

Again, open your mouth so the sound can get out and direct your words where you want them to go.

Another important point, that is often under estimated, is to wear something you feel comfortable in. There is nothing worse than standing or sitting and trying to concentrate on a speech when you feel very uncomfortable.
