Speak Up Academy Extra curricular ActivityWe at Speak Up believe this is a unique extra curricular activity concept. We believe that most adults are capable of encouraging children to speak confidently and one of the main ways is by having fun. This pack is ideal for schools, play groups, Rainbows, Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, after school groups, holiday clubs etc.and this activity will give children a basic understanding of poetry and will give them confidence in their speaking skills. This pack is suitable for a one day session or can be split into several shorter sessions. The goal is to get the children to learn from memory one short poem (see example below). We will send you four poems with detailed info about how they should be recited, you can choose to use all of them or just some of them.
All information regarding how the poem should be recited is included in the pack. There is a very easy to understand explanation of pace, power, pause etc. You will mark them on such things as clearness, interpretation etc (all explained in detail with the pack). Any English or Drama teacher (or teacher assistant) should be able to supervise this activity. The children will then be awarded their 'Speak Up Academy' activity certificates. Please note that Speak Up is an independent Examining Board, sending examiners all around the UK.
The standard activity pack will include the following and costs just £30 with extra certificates and report sheets being available at a cost of £1 per child, although you could photocopy the certificates provided in the pack.
