Estate Agents

All successful Estate Agents have one thing in common and that’s confidence. They’ve confidence in their ability to sell and confidence in their ability to communicate.

Successful estate agents can talk easily to other agents, to sellers and their families, to buyers and their families and to architects, solicitors, landlords and any other people involved in the property business.

We need to remember that the way we talk greatly influences the way other people think of us and consequently how they react to us. If we’re worried about our ability to communicate, those listening to us will sense our unease and assume that we are unsure, not only about talking to others but also unsure about the property we are trying to sell or we will sound disinterested about the property we have been asked to sell, we will come across as introvert.

Often when we are selling to people, they are sitting still. Perhaps they are in a showroom, a shop or an office and they can concentrate fully on what the salesperson is saying. The salesperson can also sit or stand still, with all their notes and information at hand.

Estate agents do not have these luxuries - they have to sell in all sorts of strange locations. They may have to talk in the middle of a large garden or a derelict house with no chairs, no desk or they may find themselves in a luxury mansion. The property may be on a main road with loud lorries rushing past. The clients will be looking around and will become distracted very easily.

If selling outside the wind can blow your voice away or if in a large empty house the echo can swallow up your words. These realtors need to have exceptional communication skills if they are to find people their dream home and produce first rate selling figures.
